I’m Back On Twitch
Okay, so it’s been a while but after talking it up for a while and having a little bit of time on my hands I finally logged back in and started my stream, yes I am back online and gaming!!
So for those who weren’t familiar with me streaming on Twitch I’m going to go all the way back to the beginning to bring you up to speed.
My first exposure to Twitch was when someone was watching Ninja playing Fortnite in the lunchroom at work, it didn’t really make sense to me at the time why you would watch other people game and so at the time I dismissed it. I went nowhere near Twitch or watching anyone game again for almost 3 years.
It wasn’t until COVID hit in early 2020 that I started watching Formula 1 drivers stream themselves racing since real racing was cancelled that I started to delve into the world of online gaming. Not only did I get heavily into online racing, but I also started playing Fortnite for the first time, and with it I started watching streamers play, and my mind was blown.
So to give you an idea, at this stage gaming was me and the family sharing our time on a Playstation 4, sometimes I’d play F1 by myself, or sometimes we would go split screen and play Fortnite. But as you can imagine everyone wants a go, so I decided to by myself a gaming PC (Maybe I’ll go more into that another time). By now I’d say I’m heavily into playing Fortnite more than anything, but I’m totally hooked on playing games in groups with people that you talk to, its like gaming and being social all at once.
The more I played Fort it’s the more I started watching streamers, I can’t remember exactly who I spent most of my time watching but early on I think it was Loserfruit, Loeya and the X2 Twins who I frequented. After a while I thought “what the hell I am going to learn how this is done and give it a go” and with only free software I streamed almost immediately. Now there’s two things to note here, I was terrible at Fortnite so no one would want to watch, and I had a very basic layout for my stream, so there was nothing really appealing to watch, but I’d learnt how to set up and begin to stream.
The next big step for me was to get a camera, which was straightforward and I used it for work because my screen doubles as my work from home station, and surprisingly setting up video through OBS and then onto Twitch was easy, I’d made my stream slightly more appealing.
Unfortunately it was around this time that I kind of fell out of love with Fortnite, I think it was the whole bows and arrows phase Fortnite went through that didn’t appeal to me, so I stopped playing and obviously stopped streaming. But you can’t keep a good man down and so recently I decided to start playing again and based on the current season have started to really enjoy playing again, plus I got curious about trying to develop my skills with building a quality stream, not to necessarily have hundreds of followers, but how to develop a stream that is visually appealing, the quality of the stream can come later but I’d love to be better at the technology side of it.
So here’s to being back on Twitch, maybe head over to my channel and watch some content, give me some feedback, maybe even hit the subscribe button so I feel good about myself ;)
